This includes a variety of types of packaging styles, such as clamshell packaging and blister packaging. Slightly thicker plastics are used for items that are a bit more permanent and this would be medium-gauge thermoforming. This process is used with plastic sheets 1.5 mm to 3 mm in thickness and is less common than either thin or thick thermoforming.

When it comes to heavy gauge plastics or thermoforming, you are talking less about packaging and more about creating permanent products. While these products are produced in a similar way, using heat and huge sheets of plastic, these aren’t items you toss into your recycling bin. For example, the shell of your computer is created using this type of plastic as is the shell of your printer. At the doctor’s office, many pieces of equipment are created using heavy gauge plastic. Sometimes vacuum forming is used to create products out of heavy gauge sheets of plastic.

As a general rule, most thermoforming businesses don’t create both thick gauge and thin gauge products, they do one or the other. A few will do both, but this is much less common. Thermoforming companies, however, not only produce packaging or products, they also can design the package or item itself, which is a huge help to their clients.

These days, many people worry about the environmental impact of using too much plastic. While there are government packaging requirements as far as sustainability is concerned, some thermoforming companies are committed to going beyond these requirements. SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, May 25 (Xinhua) -- An Indian army trooper on Sunday killed two of his colleagues before shooting himself dead with his service rifle inside a post in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said.

The fratricide took place in the afternoon at 1:15 p.m. (local time) at a forward post stationed in frontier Poonch district, close to the line-of-control (LoC), about 187 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. "A soldier today fired on his two colleagues, resulting in their death on spot," Lt Col Manish Mehta, Indian army spokesman in Jammu told Xinhua. "The soldier later on committed suicide by shooting himself dead inside the post."

Reports said their colleagues ran toward the post upon hearing gunshots and immediately took them to hospital, where they were declared dead by the doctors.

Indian army has ordered a court of inquiry into the fratricide. "An investigation has been ordered," Mehta said. "Senior army officials have rushed to the spot and we are trying to get details to know what actually went wrong."

Reports said the erring trooper had a verbal brawl with his colleagues before he went on the killing spree.

LoC is a de facto border that divides Kashmir into India and Pakistan controlled parts.

In February an Indian army trooper killed five of his colleagues before shooting himself dead inside a camp at Safapoora village of Bandipora district, about 35 km north of Srinagar.

Last year four troopers were killed in incidents of fratricide across the restive region.

Indian-controlled Kashmir is considered as the highest militarized region. Officially India does not reveal the actual number of its troops deployed in the troubled region. However, rights activists say there are over 700,000 Indian troops and paramilitary troops in the region fighting an anti-India insurgency.

During the past more than two decades of insurgency in the region several incidents of suicide and fratricide among the stationed troops were reported.Health experts say continued separation from family, long duty hours, lack of recreational facilities, poor command and control structure were usually found to be behind such incidents.

A guerrilla war is also going on between militants and Indian troops stationed in the restive region since 1989. The gun fight between militants and Indian troops in Indian-controlled Kashmir takes place intermittently.
