Have you ever thought watching a high-definition DVD movies on HDTV via Apple TV4. The new view way is fantastic and worth a try. If you don't know how to do, take this tutorial as reference.

Before we go any futher, a few steps preparation you need to do. As Apple TV 4 doesn't support a DVD format, you need to rip and convert DVD to Apple TV 4 compatible formats first

From it's official webesite, we have known that Apple TV 4 native supports video formats as below:

- H. 264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4. 0 or lower, Baseline Profile level 3. 0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in . m4v, . mp4, and . mov file formats.

- MPEG-4 video up to 2. 5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in . m4v, . mp4, and . mov file formats.

- Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in . avi file format.

In this case, you'll need to rip the movies from DVD disc to Apple TV 4 compatible format, such as H. 264 *.mp4. Then import the converted DVD movies to iTunes for easily streaming.

Solution 1. RIP DVD disc with Handbrake.

Handbrake is a free and open source platform,which convert video from nearly any format.Windows, Mac and Linux are supported as well.

Download Handbrake from it's official website, or you may refer to this tutorial (Guide on Ripping DVD with Handbrake for Free) and rip your DVD discs with Handbrake

Note: You may need an hour or more time to watch DVD on Apple TV 4, and Handbrake can only convert these unencrypted DVD discs. If you need a easy tool can convert encrypted and copy-protected DVD discs, just turn to solution 2.

Solution 2. Rip DVD to H.264 MP4 for playing on Apple TV 4 via iTunes
